Kobato – Episode 16 Thoughts and Impressions

What is that strange creature?

In effort to save the nursery, Kobato suggests them to do a bazaar.
Although shot down at first, they finally decide to do it… With this, the children brought in stuff for that event and even one girl brought a box of weather dolls she had made… The episode brought more Fujimoto and Kobato moments, with one instance with him slapping a post it note on that weird creature that Kobato made and also that weird creature that Kobato decides to snitch… (as appeared on the screenshot above)

Here is the evil loan sharker... IN PERSON!

Also, this evil loan sharker appears and threatens that he will blow up the whole nursery… This guy has no morals, but Fujimoto calls him to threaten him if he harms Sayaka. Then, the evil loan sharker tried to foil the bazaar, but failed after Kobato reverses that and it becomes a success…

This episode was good and it seems that the anime is getting more serious and also emotional. Kobato seems to cry after rejecting her idea and also becomes worried when the loan sharker gives a threat about blowing up the nursery. The series seems to going to the path where you must earn your happy ending instead of making it have a cliched happy ending. Another thing I noticed is that Kobato seems to have matured from the last few episodes which are serious, which is a good thing and was a treat for sticking to it for 16 episodes…

Verdict

9/10
