How do you grade your Anime?
Anime series are graded on a scale of 1-10. Anything with a rating below a 5.94 is considered failing. No scores are rounded up to be fair.
9.5 and Above: Masterpiece: Anime series that fall in this rating range have very little flaws and have great animation, characters and story/adaptation.
9.4-8.5: Outstanding: Anime series that fall in this rating range have some flaws, but insignificant and have great animation, characters and story/adaptation.

8.4-7.5: Good: Anime series that fall in this rating range have some flaws that distracts from the story somewhat.
7.4-6.5: Average: Anime series that fall in this rating range have a significant amount of flaws which distracts from the story somewhat.
6.4-6: Below Average:Anime series that fall in this rating range have a significant amount of flaws which distracts from the story alot.
5.9 and Below: Failing: Anime series that fall in this rating range is severely flawed and most of the time, unwatchable.
The anime is reviewed in several sections: Story/Content, Characters, Animation and Music. For Anime series over 14 episodes, this is rated separately which affects the ending result.
Story: The story is the most important aspect of the anime. However, some series like K-ON! and Lucky Star are very light on this, so depending on the genre, it won’t be heavily graded on this. On most genres, I’m going to be a little touch on this because the story is the main factor if I want to continue a series or not. Series that have excessive amount of fanservice and ecchi will be dropped earlier.
Animation: This is the second most important aspect of any anime. If the anime have poor animation, the impression won’t be that great. Animation also includes the art style and if it fits with the whole series.
Characters: I do not judge heavily on this part, but characters contribute heavily to the storyline and if some or most of the characters are not appealing, it won’t look so good for the story. No, I don’t grade this section highly just because a a girl is moe and highly attractive or is my favorite character.
Music: Music is usually heavily judge upon, but if it sounds horrible or not good, it will affect the average.
Other factors that can affect the average:
Excessive Fanservice/Ecchi: I’m not too keen on having breasts flashing every time and every episode nor I am pleased of having panty shots in every single episodes and more than once. If used excessively, it degrades the value of the story of not being that watchable.
